Read when he was a teenager. "Franklin always rememberd two ways in which Cotton Mather had influenced him. One was through Mather's book Bonifacious… a copy of which he had picked up second-hand. Some pages had been torn out; but the rest, he recollected almost three-quarter of a centruy later, had continued to affect him…" (Clark, p. 19)
